David Thiesen

David Thiesen

David Thiesen is the Head of Secondary at Queen’s Qatar, bringing over 15 years of experience in education. He holds an Honours degree in Information Technology from the University of Abertay Dundee, a PGDE in Secondary Computing from the University of Aberdeen, and the National Professional Qualification for Headship (NPQH).

Originally from Fife, Scotland, David began his career as a Computer Science and ICT teacher before progressing into senior leadership roles in Qatar, including Director of IT and Digital Learning, and Assistant Head of Secondary at Park House English School. Most recently, he served as Head of Secondary at GEMS Wellington School, where he led the school to Outstanding BSO ratings and international accreditations.

David is also a Level 2 PENTA School Inspector and Microsoft Certified Educator. Passionate about student success and school improvement, he is committed to building a high-performing, inclusive culture where every pupil is supported to thrive.

Outside the classroom, David enjoys football, films, and travelling with his wife, Pamela, and their two children, Lucas and Maya. He is excited to contribute to the continued growth and success of Queen’s Qatar.
