Asma Al-Abbasi is Palestinian-British and brings with her over 21 years of experience in teaching Arabic Language across a range of age groups and educational settings. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Arabic Literature from Arabic Beirut University, as well as a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) from the University of Huddersfield.
Asma has spent the past six years leading an Arabic department, where she has demonstrated strong leadership and a clear commitment to high-quality teaching and learning. She is passionate about promoting the Arabic language and culture to both Arab and non-Arab students, and works to create inclusive, engaging, and dynamic classroom environments.
Throughout her career, she has taught a variety of curricula, including Saudi, Jordanian, Palestinian, Lebanese, and the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP), where she also worked as a homeroom teacher. She has delivered Arabic instruction for both IGCSE and GCSE, and has experience teaching Islamic Studies and Qatar History to native and non-native speakers alike.
Asma believes that teachers play a vital role in shaping future generations and that student wellbeing and meaningful learning should always come first. She also enjoys learning about different cultures and believes that cultural exchange helps build mutual respect and understanding.
Asma is excited to be joining the team at Queen’s Qatar and looks forward to a positive and successful year ahead.
