Early Years Curriculum
Early Years:
Where Learning Begins
Early Years Foundation Stage: Ages 3 - 5 years
At Queen’s Qatar, we recognise the significance of early experiences for our youngest learners. From the outset of their journey with us, children are immersed in world of play, discovery and learning. Our Foundation Stage school encompasses FS1 (3-4 years) and FS2 (4-5 years) within a dedicated building on campus where young learners determine their own paths and are guided to develop curiosity and imagination.
Our dedicated Foundation Stage School follows the England and Wales Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) statutory framework, focusing on seven areas of development. These include Communication and Language, Physical Development, Personal, Social, and Emotional Development, Literacy, Mathematics, Understanding the World, and Expressive Arts and Design. The interconnected nature of the programme ensures that students perceive the links between their learning, build a strong foundation and foster curiosity and enthusiasm for learning.
As our young learners begin to read and write, teachers follow the synthetic phonics programme, Read Write Inc, which starts in Early Years and continues until the end of Reception.
During PE lessons, Foundation Stage students are provided with opportunities for play both indoors and outdoors. Specialist teachers support them in building core strength, stability, balance, spatial awareness and agility.
